Some Advantages Of Ocean Conservation

By Donna Bennett

Each day, there are numerous outbreaks of illnesses among regions near water bodies. Research has proven that most of these illnesses are a result of improper waste disposal. The waste products are carried near water bodies by strong wind and rain contaminating water. The contaminants get consumed upon drinking water directly from the ocean without prior treatment and through food chains. It is, however, essential to upload ocean conservation methods in our daily practices.

Dangers from polluted water are caused by improper human practices. Bleaching chemicals cause death of the animals. Phosphates and nitrates deposited from the industries support excessive growth of plants. Plants use oxygen in water triggering further death of animals. The plants continue growing rapidly making a large portion of an ocean out of use. The most endangered species are the sea turtles, fish, and whales.

Conserving the ocean keep it clean and safe. Once trash is deposited into the water body, the waves carry the garbage to other areas destroying the smooth outline of the water body. Traveling across the water body becomes difficult as the garbage gets stuck along the boat surface and water hyacinth entangles the ships. Ferries and boats are at high risk of capsizing as they force their way out of the garbage and plants.

Maintaining neatness in an large water mass protects against gastrointestinal complications, cancer and bone deformations. Chemicals contained in the contaminated water are causative agents of lameness, bone deformity, diarrhea, severe abdominal pains and mouth ulceration. Diarrhea is a rapid killer among children and the aged whose immune systems are underdeveloped and weak respectively.

Prevention is better than cure, and for that, this act is cost effective. Very little is used in the garbage disposal than in gathering the scattered waste and disposing of. The billions of shillings used to eliminate the effects of contaminants could be invested in the expansion of industries for example pharmaceutical industries and in setting up more hotels near the beach, an investment which is highly productive.

Cleanliness in water bodies promotes the economic development of a concerned state. The shores are a tourist attraction for foreigners during summer and the money collected is used for to direct change in the underdeveloped areas. The agricultural sector relies on aquatic animals to feed the nation and export the surplus. In pharmaceutical companies, the production of medications is slow because contaminated water has to be thoroughly treated contrary to when water sources are safe. Unpolluted water sources indirectly increase production in these manufacturing centers because a water treatment process is short thus quick production.

There are various organizational rules and regulations that assist in marine conservation. Organizations in a particular nation should take the responsibility of educating the public on proper waste disposal methods. They should look for ways of motivating the industrial workers to conserve the marine by recognizing those responding positively to keep the environment safe.

Use of heavy punishment is an effective method towards keeping the marine clean and safe. Many people seem to respond positively to a lesson once a negative effect is stated. It is therefore important to conserve the marine. Setting up waste bins along the beaches and using instructional posters plays a major role in the conservation.
